Tiny Tina’s Chaos Chamber: Classes and Suits

Our intrepid bunkmaster Tiny Tina has brought us to the Chaos Chamber where you join a party of up to 2-4 adventurers locked inside. Before the game begins you will have the opportunity to choose a class that has special abilities that finish off foes. Tasked to take down a series of monsters, badasses, and bosses you will be armed with a series of spells, weapons and aces up your sleeve (literally).

Throughout your battles if you manage to deal the final blow to a foe you will be able to pick up AWESOME SHINY LOOT. The bigger and the badder the foe the better the reward will be. Each piece of loot you pick up has its own respective power that can change the flow of the game.

What are Trick-Taking Games?

A trick-taking game revolves around each player playing a card from their hand one at a time in turn to compete for the highest suit/number. The cards played in the turn are then compared and the highest value wins the “trick”.

In Tiny Tina’s Chaos Chamber, players will play two cards per round (unless an ability says to do more). After both cards have been played, each player will count their Rank (the number values on the cards). This includes face-down cards but doesn’t count any off-suit cards played. Whoever has the highest total Rank wins the trick. The winner will then use each card to do damage to monsters. If any monsters are killed, then the player who killed them gets to pick up a loot card! We’ll get more into detail about monsters and loot in a later blog.

Types of Cards

In each box of Tiny Tina’s Chaos Chamber, there will be 6 Character Class Cards, 23 Monster Cards, 23 Loot cards (one for each monster), and 68 Suit Cards. There are also the 4 20-sided dice that can be used for determining turn order and then tracking your health throughout the game.

The first step in the game, just like in the video game, is to choose a character class! There are six classes to choose from: Brr-zerker, Clawbringer, Graveborn, Spellshot, Spore Warden, and Stabbomancer. Each class has a different ability that can be used once during a game. Using your class ability can help you to kill additional monsters and gain loot to put you ahead of the other players.

Suit Cards

When it comes to the Suit Cards, there are three suits and four elements. There are also eight Aces, which count as wild. Each card also has an action that can be done when the card is played. The three main suits are Spells (pink magic book), Guns (yellow gun), and Melee (blue swords). These are the suits that will be followed when playing cards each round.

If you don’t have a card in the suit that is played (or even if you do), you can still play a card of a different suit. When you do this, you’ll take one damage, do the effect on the card, and then use that card to damage a monster, but it won’t count in your total for the trick.

Card Elements

Moving on to the elements represented on the card, you will find Fire, Frost, Lightning, and Poison. These elements are also on different Monster cards. This is because you can discard a card with the matching element to block damage from a Monster! However, you cannot block damage from monsters when they arrive from the “Reveal a Monster” effect on a card.

Card Actions

Each card has an action that you will carry out once you play the card. Some might have you deal damage to Monsters, while some might help you heal damage that you’ve taken. There are even cards that allow you to Add a card face-down from your hand to the trick. When you add a card this way, you do not perform the action but will add the number to your total at the end of the round.

Aces are Wild

As mentioned before, Aces count as any suit. These cards have a pink and blue diamond pattern and some of your favorite characters on them. You’ll find Tiny Tina herself, Valentine, Frette, Her Royal Majesty Queen Butt Stallion, Paladin Mike, Torgue, the Fairy Punchfather, and Izzy on the Ace cards. They each have some pretty sweet abilities as well.

For example, let’s look at the Ace card that has our fearless leader, Tiny Tina on it. The ability here says “Reveal 2 monsters, take 4 cards from the discard and deal 2 Damage to each of them. All players Draw 2 cards. You may Add a card face down to this trick.” That’s a whole lotta action for one play!

You will find your way out of the Chaos Chamber once someone collects enough Loot Cards to total the required Victory Points. Points required vary depending on how many players are on the adventure with you.
