Everett Misenas is a staple in the collecting community in Edmonton. You can usually find him at Wayne’s Sports Cards & Collectibles – his happy place. For years Everett has loved all things hockey – playing, watching, learning about team and player stats, and of course collecting hockey cards. In fact, his dream is to one day own his own hobby shop, and help bring the joy he finds in collecting to others. So when Upper Deck heard about Everett’s story, we knew we wanted to honor him as part of our Heroic Inspirations program.

At four years old, Everett was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He underwent many major surgeries and treatments to get the tumor under control. Everett will need various medications and interventions for the rest of his life, and has recently begun a clinical trial in hopes of limiting future surgeries and radiation. Now 13 years old, Everett has been an inspiration to everyone he’s come into contact with. Through all the treatments, surgeries, needles, ER visits, tests, hospital stays, and uncertainty, Everett’s bravery and peace of soul continues to uplift those around him.

In addition to his love of hockey and collecting, Everett also enjoys reading, playing video games, yo-yoing, going to the movies, and serving during Church services. Everett and his siblings love playing with their puppy, Jack. The eldest child of parents Matt and Kyla, they describe Everett as a temperate and responsible son, who loves and cares for his younger sister Amelia and younger brother Isaac.
