Hi. My name is Toby, and I’m a National League fan.
It’s been a tough existence: we haven’t won the All-Star Game since 1996, and quite frankly, it’s getting a little ridiculous. It’s gotten so bad that among other outlandish occurrences in Upper Deck’s “Historic Firsts Predictors” insert card set from last year, we printed this one: “The National League Wins the All-Star Game.”
Now, in case you’re not familiar with Upper Deck or these cards, the promise was that if any of them occurred, we’d do something big.
So, how about this for big: if the National League wins the All-Star Game on Tuesday, we’re going to give everyone a free pack of baseball cards. “This time it counts”? Damn right. Stay tuned for details.
So if you’re a long suffering National League fan like me, now you have even more incentive to cheer for The Senior Circuit. An end to the streak, home field advantage, and free cards. Doesn’t get much better than that.
Now, if someone would just find Bigfoot, 2009 would be complete . . .
